Dana White “down” for a possible McGregor – Cerrone fight

UFC President Dana White gives his take on the possible McGregor – Cerrone fight.

If you ask Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White, it is very likely that Donald Cerrone would be the one welcoming Conor McGregor back from his suspension.

Talking to US-based outlet MMAJunkie following the UFC 234 presser in Australia, White gave his take on the possible showdown. He thinks that the fight would made sense for the two highly-touted fighters.

“I’d like to see Conor fight this summer so those two want to fight each other…they’ve both earned it,” White said. “Cowboy’s fought anybody we’ve ever put against him. We throw this young killer (Alex) Hernandez at him. Cowboy’s the underdog and he goes in and does it the way he did it and then Conor’s fought everybody.

“If these two want to fight, I’m down.”

Cerrone just made a successful return to 155-pounds, where he stopped rising prospect Alex Hernandez in under two rounds. In the said division, the one-time Manila visitor owns sixteen victories across his name and once fought for the title in back 2015. Not to mention, “Cowboy” has expressed his desire to fight McGregor on several occasions.

McGregor on the other hand, is currently serving a six-month suspension following the post-fight melee when he challenged current champ Khabib Nurmagomedov in a losing effort. If pushes through, the fight can happen as early as summertime in the United States.
